Cardiovascular disease is the number 1 cause of deaths in Singapore, accounting for 32% of all deaths in 2021. This means that almost 1 out of 3 deaths in Singapore is due to heart diseases or stroke.
In 2005, The Heart Fund, a sub-fund of NUHS Fund, was established by the National University Heart Centre, Singapore (NUHCS) to assist financially disadvantaged patients and to support continuous medical research and education programmes in the field of cardiovascular diseases.
Patients of cardiovascular diseases undergo a mentally and emotionally distressing experience upon their diagnosis. Heart diseases not only require costly procedures, patients usually have to accept long term medical treatments in order to maintain the longevity of their heart health. Despite the availability of highly subsidised treatments in Singapore, these treatment costs remain a crucial worry for low-income families.
NUHCS Heart Fund steps in to provide financial assistance to these financially disadvantaged patients and their households when other avenues of financial support are not available or insufficient.
We need your generosity to help us continue to aid our financially disadvantaged patients at the NUHCS. Let's beat cardiovascular disease together! Make a donation to the NUHCS Heart Fund today!
