Singapore's First Large Scale Aortic Screening Programme
Aortic Aneurysms and Aortic Dissections do not have any obvious symptoms until it is at risk of rupture and death. The only way to prevent a rupture is to detect Aneurysm or Dissection through early screening. However, it is not clear why and how fast these conditions grow. To better understand why and how these conditions occur, NUHCS conducted an Aortic Screening Programme where aortic screening was offered to participants to detect any fatal conditions early.
As early detection will help save lives, NUHCS hope to better identify individuals at high-risk of a rupture in their aorta and receive prompt treatment, through this programme.
