To help you settle in, our ward staff will orientate you to the ward and the facilities available. You can also expect a visit by the ward doctor. This may involve taking a detailed medical history and ordering of tests, if necessary.
Smoking is prohibited by law throughout the Hospital complex.
The routine in the ward includes activities such as ward rounds by doctors, medication, meals, visiting hours and bedtime. In addition, activities like laboratory tests, x-ray, treatment and other procedures will take place when required. Should you have any concerns, please feel free to discuss it with the ward nurse/manager. We will try our best to assist you in any way.
A wrist band indicating your name, NRIC and ward number will be issued to you upon your arrival at the ward. Please wear it at all times during your stay at the hospital as this enables our staff to verify your identity and determine if you have any drug allergy or likelihood of falls.
Should you wish to engage a private nurse during your stay with us, please inform our nurses and they will be glad to assist you.
We have a range of services designed to meet specific cultural needs such as language, dietary and religious requirements. If you have needs related to your cultural group, please mention this to the staff caring for you.
During your stay, you will be treated to meals that are both delicious and nutritious. Be pleasantly surprised by the delights our chefs have specially whipped up for you, with the supervision of our dietitians.

We have procedures in place to handle any emergencies and all staff are trained to adhere to these procedures during emergencies. In an emergency, staff will take whatever action is necessary, and will tell you what to do.
As your safety and well-being is our utmost concern, please remain in the hospital premises till your discharge. If you wish to leave the ward for any reason, please discuss with your doctor or nurse. Patients who wish to be discharged from the hospital against doctor's advice will be required to sign an AOR (At Own Risk) form.
If you need to go home for urgent matters during your hospital stay, you may request for home leave from your doctor.
If you have personal, practical or family matters that are causing you concern, you can ask to see a social worker for advice or assistance.
