NUHCS-NCIS Thrombosis Forum 2017

Target Audience: Clinicians, researchers and educators, allied health professional, nurses, students and trainees in the field of prevention, diagnosis and treatment of thrombotic and bleeding disorders.

 

The NUHCS-NCIS Thrombosis Forum is an interactive medical forum that focuses on all aspects of polyvascular thrombotic and non-thrombotic disease, including acute coronary syndromes, atrial fibrillation, stroke, peripheral arterial disease, diabetic vascular disease and venous thromboembolism, from diagnosis and pathophysiology to the current consensus on treatment. Participants will learn modern concepts and practical strategies in the effective clinical management of polyvascular thrombotic and non-thrombotic disease.

Cardiovascular Risk Factors : How do I reduce my risk of developing a heart attack?

Ischemic heart disease is a condition that results from interruption of the blood flow to the heart due to cholesterol build-up in the coronary arteries (blood vessels supplying the heart muscles). It is the third leading cause of death in Singapore. Lack of physical activities, hypertension, high cholesterol level and diabetes mellitus are some of the risk factors for the development of ischemic heart disease. This talk aims to discuss on intervention to lower the risk of developing ischemic heart disease.

The Heart Fund - 'Keep the Beat' Campaign

To raise the target fund of S$50,000 for needy heart patients, 18 members from the National University Heart Centre, Singapore (NUHCS) will double-hat as ambassadors for the NUHCS ‘The Heart Fund – Keep the Beat’ fund-raising campaign. The first of such an initiative by NUHCS, the 18 ambassadors will clock a combined distance of 180km at the upcoming Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon to rally for Singaporeans to donate generously.
